INITIAL ASSESSMENT

A well rounded initial assessment is key for successful rehab.  As indicated per person proprioception, kinesthetic awareness, sensation, strength, coordination, vestibular function, balance, and gait mechanics will all be addressed to ensure that we are aware of all impairments that need to be addressed with rehab.  As I always tell my patients, a strong house cannot be built without a solid foundation.

TREATMENT

After the assessment is complete we will now know where to start treatment.  Treatment progressions are tailored to the individual.  During treatment sessions you will be given interventions that are challenging, though achievable with practice.  The goal of all intervention is improved functional movement for an improved quality of life.

PATIENT, FAMILY, CAREGIVER EDUCATION

My goal is for me to not be your long term solution.  That is why education to my patients, their family and their caregivers is so important. This type of recovery does not occur by working on it for an hour a few times a week.  It occurs by knowing what to work on each day to make progress while still living an enjoyable life. This is a team approach and I am just a guide for the team.
